Two of the St. Lucia’s leading Cardiologists have been named Fellows of the European Society of Cardiology (ESC). Dr. Martin Didier and Dr. Romel Daniel both received their honorific title of FESC at the opening ceremony of the European Society of Cardiology Congress held recently in Barcelona, Spain.

Dr. Didier and Dr. Daniel, who are President and Secretary of the Caribbean Cardiac Society (CCS) respectively, were introduced to the ESC community by that organization’s President, Professor Roberto Ferrari, and Chairperson of the ESC Credentials Committee, Professor Steen Dalby Kristensen.

Dr. Didier in expressing his appreciation for being awarded this fellowship called it another step towards strengthening the relationship between these two regional Cardiology Societies. “In addition to the CCS being named an affiliate society of the ESC we were recently honoured to have Prof. Ferrari join us in Barbados for our Conference and were equally happy to join him in Barcelona and to be accepted as fellows” Dr. Didier said.

The European Society of Cardiology Congress held August 29 to September 2 attracted some 30,000 participants to Barcelona from all across the world. Several members of the Caribbean Cardiac Society attended the meeting.
